Home Utility Reports

We provide Home Utility Reports to give you an easy to understand view of your usage and how you can save money on your monthly bills. The report compares your home’s energy efficiency over time, and to similar homes in your area, as well as provides you with a personalized set of actions that you can take to save.  You can also log on to our web platform where you can change any assumptions (such as number of occupants or age of your home), further customize your action plan, and even get a list of local contractors who can help you with any energy efficiency needs.

Why are you trying to help me save energy?

In addition to saving you money on your utility bill, reducing your energy use will also reduce your environmental impact and greenhouse gas emissions, which is one of our primary goals.

How often will I receive the report?

Home Utility Reports are mailed to customers on a regular basis. I can look up your account to see how often you will receive the report.

Can I receive the report by email?

Yes, absolutely. If you would like to receive them electronically I can take your details now and change it in our system. Or likewise you can log in online to change your settings.

Who am I compared against?

You are compared against a group of 100 similar homes that are located near your home, typically within one mile.

What do you use to compare us?

We compare you against nearby homes that have a similar square footage to develop the comparison. However, public information sometimes becomes outdated as homes are renovated or situations change. If the information on your report appears to be incorrect, please update your My Savings Assessment after logging in or registering.

Why am I using more energy?

There are a number of reasons why you may be using more energy than your neighbors. We suggest you look through your action plan to determine where the optimal savings may be. The first three tips are located on the second page of your Home Utility Report. For the full list, view your Savings Plan Overview Assessment after logging in or registering.

How do my most efficient neighbors manage to use so much less energy than me?

They are likely taking a variety of savings-actions, like; adjusting or programming their thermostats to manage heating and cooling costs; turning off lights and home electronics when not in use; running only full laundry and dishwasher loads; and installing more efficient heating/air-conditioning systems or water heater.

How do you choose the action items?

We have a large database of various energy saving actions that we analyze for the best savings for you. You can customize the plan further by updating your Energy Assessment and viewing your Savings Plan Overview.

Will the tips I receive change from month to month?

Yes, there are two types of tips you will receive. The first are seasonal tips on the front page. These will change each month depending on the time of year and your energy profile. The second are within the action plan. These will change as you take action.

I have already taken some of the actions, why do they reappear?

If you have taken action and they reappear then you should log into your account and update your Savings Plan Overview by clicking the button saying `Completed`. That way we know what you have done and can find other ways for you to save.

How do you calculate my savings?

We look at your specific home and energy plan, and then evaluate various opportunities for savings. This could include behavioral changes, new appliances, changes to your home, or installing solar.

How do you get my information?

We compiled your historic energy usage information and public information like location, size, home age and heating sources.

What do you do with my information?

We use your information to provide you with a comparison and recommendations to help you reduce your energy usage. All information on your home, whether it be from public sources or input directly into your online account by yourself, is held in the strictest confidence.

Is my home energy use being shared with other customers?

No. All of the comparison information is pooled to create your report. Your specific information and home characteristics are not shared with others.

Can my friends enroll?

Right now we are sending out our Home Utility Reports to a limited number of customers. We will be expanding this program in 2016.  However, anyone can visit the website and learn about their energy use, and access the tools and resources to save.
